SECTION 4 BOYS' TENNIS: LOCALS COMPETE AT SECTIONALS; TOURNEY WILL CONCLUDE FRIDAY (24 PHOTOS)(May 14, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report CORNING — The Section 4, Class A tennis championships weren’t able to finish what they started on Thursday morning.
The sectionals will finish up at 3 p.m. Friday at Corning.
In doubles Horseheads’ Dom Wood and Lincoln Choe had a bye and then won 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 to make the semifinals.
Corning’s Paul Lee and Jose Manuel Umanzor and Elmira’s Jan Kirchner and Otto Emerson both made it into the quarterfinals.
On Thursday one local singles player opened with a win.
Derek Guo of Corning beat Joseph Juan of Horseheads, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Ketu Patel of Horseheads and Bryan (Taekyu) Lee of Corning each dropped singles matches in the opening round. ——— PHOTOS BY BRIAN FEES
