VESTAL — The Corning boys’ soccer team was edged by Vestal on the road Wednesday, 1-0. 

Corning had 10 shots and four corner kicks and Vestal had 10 shots and two corner kicks.

Ben Hufnagel had eight saves in goal for Corning and Vestal had nine saves in goal. 

Vestal’s goal was by Elsan Toric off an assist from One Mitsakos. 

“Always a tough match at Vestal,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “We really had to dig deep and go deeper into our bench tonight with a slew of injuries. 0-0 in the 72nd minute and the guys leaving it all on the field is tough.

“We hope the experience will propel us as e move forward into the season.”

Corning is at Unone-Endicott on Friday night.
