STAC TENNIS: CORNING FALLS AT HOME TO VESTAL (September 18, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The short-handed Corning tennis team came up short against Vestal 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
With a pair of players from the team’s top 10 out of the lineup the Hawks got some strong matches in the loss Friday.
Kate Scanlon and Jaedyn Vernacotola won 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 at first doubles over Seema Patel and Meenakshi Chakravadhanula.
Vestal’s Sophie Sweet won 6-1, 6-2 over Kassidy McNeil at first doubles and Ella Sweet won 6-1, 6-0 over Ella Alberg at second singles.
AT third singles Bibel Cass won 6-0, 6-0 over Natalie Ginalski and at fourth singles Breanna Hardy of Vestal won 6-4, 6-2 over Rebecca Spike.
In second doubles Leaven Benston and Sayeh Hojinazar won 6-1, 0-6, 7-5 over Tess Barber and Ila Caprarella.
In third doubles Zina Liu and Celina Tubo won 6-1, 6-4 over Bethany Morey and Ina Mamidwar.
