STAC BOYS' SOCCER: HORSEHEADS RALLIES, BUT COMES UP JUST SHORT AT ITHACA (September 9, 2026)

ITHACA — Down 3-1 at the half the Horseheads boys’ soccer team battled back, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss at Ithaca in the season opener on Wednesday night.

“Down 3-1 at the half, but played a much better second half,” Horseheads coach Mark Mucci said. 

Jason Lucht, Mason Earl and Brayden Spier all had goals for Horseheads and Lucht, Earl and Alex Vesneske had the assists.

“Had a couple chances to force the tie at the end, but couldn’t find the back of the net,” Mucci said. “Super proud of the effort the boys put forth tonight. Showed a lot of character and resilience.”
