There was no shortage of stellar stars and performance this Spring in girls sports, from state champions to softball players of the year. At the top are the duo of Wellsboro's Piper Hoprich and Corning's Cella McLaughlin, who share The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm 2026 All-Region "Girls Athlete of the Spring" honors.

They were both two-time state champions this year - Hoprich won titles in the 100- and 200-yard dashes, while McLaughlin won championships in the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump - while setting records along the way.

Hoprich was also a bronze medalist in the 4-by-100 relay, and McLaughlin was a state qualifier in the 100, but chose not to run in the event at States.

Cella McLaughlin, Corning track & field: See above.

Mattie Johnston, Corning softball: The New York Class AAA State "Player of the Year," Johnston went 17-1 with an 0.84 ERA and 160 strikeouts in 99 2/3 innings in the pitcher's circle. She also hit .525 with 11 extra-base hits, including four home runs, had 23 RBI, and scored 36 runs.

Vida Rossi, Tioga track & field: Rossi was a bronze medalist in the 100-yard dash at the New York State Championships, along with being a sixth-place finisher in the long jump. She set school records in both events.

RaeAnn Feeko, Tioga softball: Feeko hit .600 with 18 extra-base hits (eight doubles, one triple,  nine home runs) to go with 37 RBI, 39 runs scored, and a perfect 19-for-19 on stolen bases. She was a first-team all-state selection.

Taylin Gonzalez, Waverly softball: Gonzalez hit .615 with eight doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI and 32 runs scored at the plate. In the circle, she went 10-6 with a 2.77 ERA and 133 strikeouts in 108 2/3-innings of work. She was a second-team all-state selection.

Alexis McRoberts, Canton track & field: McRoberts set school and district records in the shot put and discus, while claiming District 4 titles in both. She earned a pair of state silver medals in the events as well.

Brynn Woodruff, Towanda track & field: Woodruff repeated as district champion in the javelin, while also earning her second straight state silver medal in the event.

Sydney Blunt, Horseheads flag football: Blunt was a fourth-team all-state defensive back selection with 32 tackles and five interceptions, with two of those returned for touchdowns. She ran for 850 yards and seven touchdowns on 95 carries, while hauling in 17 passes for 180 yards and two scores.

Lauren Kosek, Wellsboro track & field: Kosek was a state runner-up in the 3200, while also being a state medalist in the 1600. She was second in both events at the District IV Championships, and even broke the district record in the 3200.

Hailey Litzelman, North Penn-Liberty softball: Litzelman hit .518 with 11 extra-base hits (three home runs, three triples, five doubles) to go with 23 RBI, 17 runs scored, and nine stolen bases.

Delaney Abel, Corning golf: Abel claimed state bronze for the second time in her career. She won the Section IV title with a pair of 73s, while also winning the STAC title by 13 strokes.

Caitlyn Yearick, Horseheads softball: Yearick hit .507 with seven home runs this season to go with 19 extra-base hits. She was a second team all-state selection.
