The Sports Reports
There were plenty of big performances from the area boys track and field athletes with Tioga's Gavin Albrecht bringing home the title of The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm "Athlete of the Year."

Albrecht was a state champion in the pole vault at 15-feet, and a set a school-record with his vault of 15-feet, 1-inch at sectionals.

Horseheads' Patrick Laney burst on to the scene as the "Track Athlete of the Year," with Corning's Maxwell Jennings the "Field Athlete of the Year."

Towanda's Emmett Klees is the "Newcomer of the Year," while the Corning coaching staff took home "Coaching Staff of the Year" honors, and the Corning 4-by-800 relay team was named the "Relay of the Year."

Laney ran 10.87 to take home bronze in the 100 at States, while winning sectionals in the 200 in 22.17 seconds.

Jennings was a state qualifier in the pole vault at 14-feet, 6-inches.

Klees qualified for states in the 3,200-meter run, and nearly made states in the 1,600-meter relay.

Corning once again showed out in track and field, sending several athletes to States, and returning with a handful of medals.

The Corning 4-by-800 relay of Graham Wightman, Bryce Hammond, Nicholas Ferratella, and Sebastian Boutwell took fourth at States in 7:52.66.

Maxwell Jennings, Corning: See above.

Lawrence Halbfoerster, Canton: Halbfoerster was a districts champion in the 3,200-meter run, while also qualifying for states in the 1,600-meter run.

Graham Wanck, Athens: Wanck was a state qualifier in the 1,600-meter run in Class AAA, while nearly making it in the 3,200-meter run.

David Seeling, Wellsboro: Seeling was a member of the Hornet 4-by-800 relay that earned a state medal, while also setting several school records, including the high jump (6-feet, 7-inches).

Ethan Wentzel, Corning: Wentzel was a state qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles and the pole vault, while taking fifth in sectionals in the 200-meter dash (23.58).

Chris Lawson, Corning: Lawson medaled in the 3,200-meter run at States, placing fifth in 9:12.95.

Nicholas Farratella, Corning: Along with being part of the 4-by-800 relay, he placed sixth at States in the 1,600-meter run in 4:12.75, setting a new school record.

Sebastion Boutwell, Corning: Along with being part of the 4-by-800 relay, Boutwell was seventh at States in the 1,600-meter, while running 1:55.77 in the 800-meter run at the state qualifiers.

Bryce Hammond, Corning: Along with being part of the 4-by-800 relay, Hammond was second in the 3200 at the state qualifiers in 9:26.26.

Ashtyn Stark, Corning: Stark was sixth at States in the 3000 steeplechase in 9:58.78.

Luke Kreger, North Penn-Mansfield: Kreger was a state medalist in the high jump, jumping 6-feet, 2-inches to place eighth.

Nicholas Koala, Horseheads: Koala ran 4:19.41 to take second in the 1600 at the state qualifiers.

SECOND TEAM
Jonathan Earle, Wyalusing: Earle was the district champion in the pole vault.

Colton Pellett, North Penn-Mansfield: Pellett was the district champion in the high jump.

Jonathan Carl, Wellsboro: Carl was a state qualifier in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Cameron Morey, Troy: Morey was a state qualifier in the triple jump.

Dylan Johns, Wyalusing: Johns was a district medalist in the high jump, and jumped 6-feet, 6-inches this season.

Troy Beeman, Waverly: Beeman was a Section IV champ and state qualifier in the discus.

Ryan Calkins, Corning: Calkins was a state qualifier in the 400, and took third in sectionals in the 200.

Chase Luangsuwan, Horseheads: Luangsuwan was a state qualifier in the 200, while taking second in sectionals in the 100.

Deakon Valentie, North-Mansfield: Valentine was third in the javelin at districts in 166-feet.

Hudson Malanoski, Sayre: Malanoski was seventh in the district in the shot put and had a season best of 48-feet, 4-inches.

Jazick Brown, Towanda: Brown had a 100 time of 11.08 seconds, and was a district medalist in the 100.

Adrian Blouin, Corning: Blouin was a sectional champion in the 400 in 51.56.

John Charles Walton, Elmira: Walton was a state qualifier in the triple jump, and third at sectionals in the long jump.

Max Williams, Horseheads: Williams ran 1:58.81 in the 800 to take fifth at the state qualifiers.

Break Schmidt, Horseheads: Schmidt was second in the 200 at the state qualifiers in 22.52.
