THE SPORTS REPORT: CORNING'S ABEL NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM ALL-REGION 'GIRLS GOLFER OF YEAR;' THREE OTHER STSR GOLFERS EARN ALL-REGION HONORS (July 21, 2026)

Corning sophomore Delaney Abel placed in the top-three at States for the second straight year, and is The Sports Reports /  Ziff Law Firm 2025-26 All-Region "Girls Golfer of the Year."

Towanda freshman Olivia Heath was the Black Knights' top golfer most of the regular season, helping them to a District 4 team title. She is the 2025-26 All-Region "GIrls Golf Newcomer of the Year."

Abel, now a two-time third place finisher at States, won her third Section IV title, shooting a two-over par 73 at Soaring Eagles to win by six shots.

A week prior, she fired a 6-under round of 68 at theApalachin Golf Course to win the STAC championships by 13 strokes, and break a 30-year-old course record.

Abel shot a 76 and was in eighth place after Day 1 at States, then fired a two-under round of 70 on Day 2 to move up five spots on the leaderboard.

Heath finished the NTL season with a 102.3 scoring average. She placed fourth at the District 4 Championships, missing States by one spot.

Laila Hackett, Cowanesque Valley: The NTL’s top golfer, Hackett averaged 101.7 during league play.

Clara Glantz, Towanda: Clara Glantz saved her best for last, helping the Knights secure a District 4 title while qualifying for states as a team.

Gantz shot a 99 on Day 2 at Districts to place third and secure the last berth to States.

She was also the lone NTL golfer to make states individually. She had a 108.1 scoring average.

Brooke Lyon, Athens: Lyon finished the season with a 103 scoring average, but shot rounds of 85, a school record, and 86.  

She finished seventh at the District 4 Girls Championships.

Jemma Randall, Horseheads: A state qualifier, Randall shot a 100 at the Section IV Championships to place eighth and punch her ticket to States.

Harper Abel, Corning: Harper Abel shot a 92 at the STAC Championships to finish third. She was the most improved golfer in the region, and missed states by two strokes.

Ellie Padgett, Horseheads: Padgett tied for 11th at the Section IV Championships, and missed out on a berth to States by one stroke.

Payton Perry, Towanda: Perry was a key cog on Towanda's District 4 Championship team, finishing second on the team with 107.7 scoring average.

Izzy Repsher, Towanda: Repsher was also a key cog on Towanda's District 4 Championship team, finishing third on the team with 107.8 scoring average.
