12U LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: OFFENSE EXPLODES EALRY, LATE AS HORSEHEADS OPENS SECTIONALS WITH WIN (24 PHOTOS) (July 17, 2026)

CORNING — The offense exploded early, and late, as the Horseheads Majors Little League team opened sectional play with a 16-12 win over Auburn in seven innings on Friday.

Horseheads scored four in the first and led 5-0 heading to the bottom of the second. Horseheads then scored six in the top of seventh to win the game.

It was 5-1 after the bottom of the second, before Auburn got five in the third to go up 6-5.

Horseheads scored three in the fourth and two in the top of the fifth to lead 10-6, before Auburn scored four in the bottom of the inning to tie the game at 10. 

Neither team scored in the sixth, before Horseheads got six in the seventh. Auburn had two in the bottom of the seventh in the loss. 

Jesse Schuyler had a double and a triple, two RBI and two runs scored and Eli Hilliard had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored, while Max Marsh had two hits, two RBI and a run scored.

Ben LaNeue had a hit, four RBI and a run scored. Kaidan Rijo had a hit, two RBI and two runs scored.

JJ Reed and Liam each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Brantley had a hit, two RBI and a run scored. Eli Pirozzolo and Brantley West had a hit, two RBI and a run scored. Brendon Drew scored three runs and Johnny Wheeler scored a run. 

Marsh went four innings for Horseheads, striking out two. Eli Hilliard got an out and Schuyler got two outs. Kaidan Rijo got two outs and LaNeue sealed the win, striking out two in 1 1/3 innings.
