NYSPHSAA GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD: MCLAUGHLIN WINS 2ND STATE TITLE IN 2 DAYS, CLAIMS 100 HURDLE CROWN (9 PHOTOS) (June 14, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportWEBSTER — One day after bringing home a state title in the long jump, Corning’s Cella McLaughlin made it a two-for-two state title weekend, winning the 100 hurdles for the second straight year.
McLaughlin, a Pitt commit, won the 100 final in 14.09, topping the field by .20. It’s a second straight year winning states for the senior, who also won the 55 hurdles indoor this year This gives McLaughlin three state titles this school year.
McLaughlin came back in the final and ran a 13.76 to finish second in the federation championship to Taylor Foster of the Brearley School (13.56). The 13.56 matched a time Foster, a Princeton commit ran earlier this year and was the third fastest in state history.
“Really great way to close out her final state meet with two state championships,” Corning coach Ray Lawson said. “It is an honor to enter a state meet with a chance to win, but talent, execution, and performance all have to come together to actually pull off the victory.
“Cella has put in the necessary work to perform her best in championship season and we as coaches are so proud of her continued success. Once again, she is the champ.”
Cella’s sister, Clare McLaughlin, finished 27th in the pentathlon.
Claire Devlin, Brooklyn Gordon, Aurora Jellif and Chinonyerem Okoro finished 15th for Corning in the 1600 relay in 4:10.77.
Okoro competed in the high jump, no-heighting on the day.
Leilani Nick of Elmira finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 32-feet, 7 1/2-inches.
Devlin finished ninth in the triple jump at 36-feet, 7 3/4-inches.
