SECTION 4 BASEBALL: PALMER THROWS ONE-HITTER AS ELMIRA DOWNS CORNING IN SECTION FINAL OPENER (24 PHOTOS)(May 26, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — Aedan Palmer threw a one-hitter as the Elmira baseball team beat Corning 10-0 in five innings in the first game of the best-of-three Section IV, Class AAA championship series.
Elmira will be at Corning at 5 p.m. on Thursday for game two.
Palmer struck out 10 and allowed the one hit in the game.
Elmira had a six run third-inning and a three-run fourth inning.
Frankie D’Angelo hit a two-run home run, and scored two runs in the game, driving in three.
Noah Cain had two hits, with a two-run double, and he scored two runs.
Aiden Ranck had a hit and scored two runs and Palmer had two RBI.
Logan Demember scored two runs and Quinn Hanrahan and Jackson Cavalier each scored runs, while Ryan Mathews had an RBI.
Andrew Welch threw a scoreless inning for Corning and Nate Bretch struck out one in an inning, while Jake Page struck out two in two innings. Carter Smiethmen got one out.
