Southern Tier Sports Report
A number of local athletes wrapped up successful seasons for the Elmira College softball team this year. 

Corning guard Sophia Polzella led the team with six home runs, and hit .309 with 10 doubles, a triple, 19 RBI and 28 runs scored. She also led the team in runs and doubles and was third in average. Polzella also led the team with 10 stolen bases. 

Former Corning Community College standout Teona Cruz hit .324, second on the team, and was second on the team with five home runs, leading the team with 28 RBI. 

Horseheads graduate Kristen Cole was fifth on the team with a .239 average and she had 11 runs, 11 RBI four doubles, two triples and a home run. She tied for the team lead in triples. 

Corning graduate Kendall Curreri hit .217 with 11 RBI and 20 runs scored, third on the team. She had two doubles and a triple and was 8-for-8 on stolen bases as the starting shortstop this year. 

Horseheads graduate Rachel Lunger had an RBI and a run scored in 21 games, with 12 starts. 

Another Horseheads graduate, Emily Huntley, pitched 17 2/3 innings, in four appearances, with two starts. She had a 3.17 ERA.
