STAC TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING BOYS AND GIRLS WIN STAC CHAMPIONSHIPS (May 20, 2026)

VESTAL — The Corning boys and girls both captured titles at the STAC Track and Field Championships on Wednesday. 

The boys have a score of 122, with Ithaca next at 69 points. Horseheads is third at 62 and Elmira is eighth at 28.

For the girls Corning has 154, with Oneonta next at 63 points. Elmira is eighth at 29 and Horseheads is 12th with 16. 

Corning’s Olivia Martinec won the 3000 in 10:54.14 and Madelyn Wise of Elmira was sixth in 11:37.65 with Millie Kiersten of Elmira 10th in 12:20.98.

Bryce Hammond of Corning won the 3200 in 9:17.46 with teammate Christopher Lawson third in 9:43.97 followed by Gavin Hornsby of Horseheads (9:56.41). Jack Sydlansky of Horseheads was sixth in 10:17.27. 

Corning won the girls’ 1600 relay in 4:02.51 with Elmira third in 4:18.86 and Horseheads was sixth in 4:43.06. 

The Hawks won the boys’ 1600 relay in 3:30.57 followed by Horseheads in 3:30.98. Elmira was seventh in 3:47.05. 

Ethan Wentzel of Corning was second in the pole vault at 12-feet, 6-inches and Elliot Snedecor of Horseheads was ninth at 9-feet.

Freddie Collins of Corning was fifth in the shot put at 45-feet, 5 1/2-inches and teammate Austin Curreri was ninth at 40-feet, 7 1/2-inches. 

In the girls’ discus Grace Kio was third at 99-feet, 1-inch followed by Samantha Harvey at 96-feet, 5-inches. Leilani Nick of Elmira was seventh at 89-feet, 4-inches and Verneece Sumner of Elmira was ninth at 85-feet, 7-inches. 

John-Charles Walton of Elmira was fourth in the long jump at 20-feet, 1-inch followed by Corning’s Joshua Fajardo at 19-feet, 5-inches. 

Drew Clearwater was second in the high jump at 5-feet, 10-inches and Darien Coprew of Elmira was seventh at 5-feet, 6-inches. 

Fajardo was third in the triple jump at 40-feet, 2 1/4-inches followed by Bryson Williams of Elmira at 39-feet, 2 3/4-inches. Dwayne Gardiner of Corning was seventh at 37-feet, 11 1/2-inches. 

Corning’s Reese Conway won the pole vault at 10-feet, 6-inches and teammate Lauren Williams was third at 9-feet. 

Kailee Davis was second in the girls’ shot at 31-feet, 2 1/2-inches followed by Harvey (30-feet, 8 1/2-inches). Nick was seventh at 28-feet, 2 1/4-inches followed by Sumner (26-feet 9 1/2-inches).

Collins was third in the boys’ discus at 137-feet, 1-inch. 

Cella McLaughlin won the girls’ long jump at 18-feet, 5 1/4-inches and Serenity Rollins of Elmira was third at 15-feet, 6-inches, while Elly Bachert of Horseheads was sixth at 14-feet, 11 1/4-inches. 

Chinonyerem Okoro of Corning was fifth in the high jump at 4-feet, 10-inches with Naudia Inness of Elmira seventh at 4-feet, 6-inches and Clare McLaughlin of Corning was 10th at the same height.

Clare Devlin was second in the girls’ triple jump at 35-feet, 11-inches. Bachert was fourth at 33-feet, 5-inches followed by Corning’s Amanda McEwen at 33-feet, 3 1/2-inches. Madison Bancroft of Horseheads was 10th at 31-feet, 9 1/4-inches. 

Liesel Despain of Corning was third in the 2000 steeplechase at 8:00.30 while Wise was eighth at 8:29.60 followed by Kaitlyn Lee of Corning at 8:43.90.

Ashtyn Stark won the boys’ 3000 steeplechase in 9:54.30 with James Lovell of Elmira third at 10:26.70. Britton Chapman of Corning was sixth at 11:38.71 followed by Dominick Marino of Horseheads at 11:38.71. 

Cella McLaughlin won the 100 hurdles in 14.01 with Clare McLaughlin fourth at 16.91. Azavyanna Morgan of Elmira was seventh at 18.37. Cella McLaughlin had a time of 13.84 in the prelims. 

The Corning boys took second in the 3200 relay in 8:29.72 with the girls fifth in 11:23.07. 

Wentzel won the 110 hurdles in 15.17 and Fajardo was fifth at 16.82 followed by Dayne Bush of Elmira in 17.36. 

Patrick Laney won the 100 meters in a school-record time of 10.93. Jacob Deneka of Corning was fifth in 11.59 followed by Horseheads’ Marco Cipolla in 11.65. 

Cella McLaughlin won the 100 for the girls in 12.07 and Elmira’s Serenity Rollins was fourth in 12.99 followed by teammate AnaA’s Dailey. 

Kateland Dininny of Corning was fourth in the 1500 in 5:02.84 followed by Martinec in 5:06.91. Addie Fenton of Elmira was seventh in 5:08.89. 

Elmira was second in the girls’ 400 relay in 51.28 followed by Horseheads (51.97) with Corning sixth at 54.32. Horseheads won the boys relay in 44.03 with Corning third in 45.80 followed by Elmira in 46.19. 

Nicholas Ferratella of Corning won the 1600 in 4:24.25 with Allen Wetmore of Horseheads fourth in 4:33.44. Andrew Wilkerson of Corning was sixth in 4:44.79. 

Aurora Jellif of Corning was third in the 400 in 1:03.08 with Molly Doran of Elmira sixth in 1:03.70.   Reese Conway of Corning was seventh at 1:03.76. 

Ryan Calkins of Corning was third in the 400 in 50.80 with Tyler Sherry of Horseheads sixth in 52.22 followed by teammate Carver Robbins (52.78). 

Adrian Blouin of Corning was second in the 400 hurdles in 57.36 with teammate Connor Calkins seventh at 1:03.31. Benjamin Marshall was 10th at 1:04.51. 

Claire Devlin of Corning won the 400 hurdles in 1:06.42 with teammate Alisyn Conway third in 1:11.50 and Elmira’s Morgan was sixth at 1:12.81.

Gabriella Hurd of Corning won the 800 in 2:32.87 and Fenton was ninth at 2:35.20. 

Sebastian Boutwell of Corning was second in the 800 in 1:56.18 followed by Nicholas Kowal of Horseheads at 1:57.22. Max Williams of Horseheads was sixth at 1:59.54 and Graham Wightman of Corning was eighth at 2:02.16. 

Okoro was third in the 200 in 27.27 with Arrianna Jones of Elmira fifth in 27.49 and Morgan Adams of Horseheads was eighth at 28.49. 

Chase Luangsuwan of Horseheads won the 200 in 22.30 and teammate Baraka Schmidt was third in 22.76. Elmira’s Zeri’miah Wilson of Elmira was sixth in 23.41 followed by Ryan Calkins of Corning in 23.46.
