COLLEGE SOFTBALL: RIJO AND ARKANSAS SOFTBALL ADVANCE TO SUPER REGIONALS (May 18, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCorning graduate Atalyia Rijo and the Arkansas softball team clinched a spot in their fifth Super Regional appearance in program history over the weekend.
The No. 5 national seed recorded their third straight run-rule victory, defeating South Florida 10-2.
Arkansas will host a Super Regional against Duke. The Razorbacks previously hosted in 2021, 2022 and 2025. It marked the first time in program history that Arkansas went unbeaten in NCAA regional play with all wins coming by run-rule.
Rijo was 1-for-2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI against South Florida. She was 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI in the previous game against South Florida and she was 2-for-3 with a run scored in a win over Fordham.
Overall the Corning grad was 4-for-7 with three runs scored and two RBI in the three games.
This year Rijo hit .338 with 35 runs scored, 40 RBI and seven home runs, along with 12 doubles.
