STAC SOFTBALL: STATE'S TOP-RANKED TEAM CORNING CLINCHES STAC WEST TITLE (May 4, 2026)

CORNING — The Corning Hawks, the top ranked Class AAA team in the state, clinched the STAC West title with a 17-1 win over Binghamton in five innings on Monday. 

Corning had eight runs in the second and seven in the fourth to break the game open. 

Matti Johnston struck out 13 in the five innings, allowing two hits and an unearned run. She also went 2-for-3 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored. 

Keira Brass had two hits, with a triple and a double, three RBI and a run scored. 

Bella Beres had a double, an RBI and a run scored and Emelia Smith had a double and scored two runs.

Sophie Schoonover had a hit, an  RBI and two runs scored and Keana Mann had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored.

Katie Grover had a hit and scored two runs, while Lilly Allen had a hit a dan RBI in the game.

Lauren DeRosa had an RBI and a run scored and CJ Harrison, Lauren Mahon and Mia Madden all scored runs in the game.
