STAC SOFTBALL: CORNING GETS OFF TO RED-HOT START, TOPS HORSEHEADS TO STAY UNBEATEN (24 PHOTOS) (April 13, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The Corning Hawks scored 21 runs in the first two innings on their way to a 23-0 win over Horseheads on Monday night.
The Hawks moved to 6-0 on the year.
Corning scored nine in the first and 12 in the second. In the second inning Keana Mann and Matti Johnston each hit home runs. Lauren DeRosa had a fourth-inning home run.
DeRosa was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run, four RBI and four runs scored and Sophia Schoonover was 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Johnston had two hits, with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored and Mann had a three-run home run and scored a run.
Emelia Smith had two hits, with two RBI and two runs scored and Hannah Kauffmann had two hits and scored two runs.
Keira Brass had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored.
Mia Madden had a hit, an RBI and two runs scored and Katie Grover had a hit, an RBI and three runs scored.
Araya Archuleta had a hit and scored a run.
Johnson and Smith combined on a two-hitter. Johnston struck out six in three innings of one-hit, no walk ball. Smith threw two innings, allowing a hit and striking out three.
Caitlin Yearick and Presley McInnes each had hits for the Blue Raiders.
Reagan Burge struck out two for Horseheads and Reese O’Herron struck out one in 2 2/3 innings.
