STAC BASEBALL: HORSEHEADS USES BIG 7TH INNING TO TOP ELMIRA (15 PHOTOS) (April 13, 2026)

ELMIRA — Horseheads scored six runs in the seventh inning to break open a 2-2 tie and top Elmira 8-2 on Monday night.

Horseheads led 2-0 after three innings, but Elmira got run sin the fifth and sixth to tie the game.

In the seventh Keegan Monahan and Cooper Ball opened with singles. After a fielder’s choice off the bat of Lyncoln Bennett, th eBlue Raiders got a Hunter Matkosky hit to break the tie. 

AJ Sheehan reached on an error to load the bases and Mason Markle reached on an error scoring a run.

Matkosky scored on a wild pitch and after an out was recorded, Ben Torgalski reached on a dropped third strike as Sheehan scored on a passed ball. Beckett Diane then scored on a wild pitch. 

Monahan was 3-for-5 with a run scored and Bennett had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Ball, Matkosky, Sheehan, Markle and Diane all had hits. Ball, Makosky, Sheehan, Markle and Diane all scored runs, while Bennett and Matkosky had RBI, while Markle had two RBI.

Ball struck out eight in five innings, allowing five hits and two runs and ankle struck out one in one scoreless inning.

Aedan Palmer struck out five and allowed two runs on six hits in six innings for Elmira and Logan Palmer closed out the game on the mound.

Logan Demember, Quinn Hanrahan, Aedan Palmer, Jackson Cavalier, Logan Palmer and Sher all had hits in the game. Aedan Palmer and Carter Sherman had RBI. Demember and Logan Palmer scored the runs.
