HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: HORSEHEADS EDGED IN 14 INNINGS IN MYRTLE BEACH (April 10, 2026)

Southern Tier Sports Report
MYRTLE BEACH — The Horseheads baseball team was edged by Apollo High School out of Kentucky, 5-3 in 14 innings on Thursday night.

The game, which went into Friday morning, ending at 1:15 a.m., was decided after the game went to the international tiebreaker rules with a runner starting the inning on second.

Kegan Monahan went four innings, Beckett Doane two, Cooper Ball one, AJ Sheehan five and Carson Bell two innings.

Pitching was great against a very good hitting club,” Horseheads coach Andy Scott said. “Defensively we did great with just one error. Just could not get the timely hit tonight, but had our chances.”

Cooper Ball, Mason Markle and Diane had two hits each and Monahan, Lyncoln Bennett and Hunter Matkosky each added a hit.

Matkosky had two RBI and Matkosky, Monahan and Ball scored the runs.

“This was a great trip to build team chemistry and figure out some things offensively and defensively,” Scott said. “This should make us better for when we come back home. Played great competition and saw some really good arms. It was a good experience. We will build on the positives and get better on things we need to work on.”
