HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: CORNING STAYS UNBEATEN AS THEY WRAP UP PLAY AT GRAND STRAND SOFTBALL CLASSIC (April 8, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportMYRTLE BEACH — The Corning softball team picked up a 23-1 win over Greenbrier East, West Virginia at the Myrtle Beach Grand Strand Softball Classic.
Corning had seven runs in the first and 11 in the third, along with five in the fourth.
Matti Johnston and Emilia Smith combined on a two-hitter for the Hawks. Johnston allowed one hit and no runs, striking out four in two innings. Smith worked three innings, allowing a hit, a walk and an unearned run, striking out seven.
Mia Madden and Keana Mann each had three hits. Mann had four RBI and three runs scored and Madden had two RBI and three runs scored.
Katie Grover had two hits, with a double, two RBI and two runs scored.
Sophia Schoonover, Smith and Hannah Kauffman had two hits each. Schoonover had an RBI and two runs scored and Smith scored three runs, with an RBI. Kauffman had two RBI and two runs scored.
Allen had a hit and an RBI and Johnston had a hit, two RBI and three runs scored.
Bella Beres and Keira Brass each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored..CJ Harrison had a hit and scored a run.
Delaney Castle and Lauren DeRosa each had an RBI and scored a run. Araya Archuleta had an RBI.
