COLLEGE BASEBALL: ELMIRA GRAD COON HAS BIG WEEKEND FOR BROCKPORT AGAINST EC (24 PHOTOS)(April 7, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — Elmira graduate Matthew Coon had a big weekend to lead Brockport College past Elmira College at Holding Point.
Coon was named the co-player of the week in the Empire 8. He is on a 13-game hit streak and went 9-for-17 with 11 runs scored, six extra base hits, with three homers and eight runs batted in during a 4-0 week.
Coon’s best game came in a 19-13 win over Elmira on Friday when Coon had three hits, with two home runs and five RBI. In a doubleheader over Elmira on Saturday he went 4-for-7 with six runs scored, two RBI and another home run.
Brockport won the doubleheader on Saturday 13-2 and 22-7.
Corning grad Ryan Price walked for EC in game one and Horseheads grad Devin Sullivan had a hit and scored a run.
