STAC BASEBALL: CORNING FALLS TO VESTAL IN SEASON OPENER (March 25, 2026)
Southern Tier Sports ReportVESTAL — The Corning Hawks baseball team fell to Vestal 4-1 in the season opener on Wednesday night.
Corning struck first and led 1-0 after the top of the first inning.
The game was still 1-0 into the fifth when Vestal tied things, and then the Golden Bears scored three in the sixth to win things.
Zach Miller had a double and an RBI for Corning and Jay Richards, Joe Kiczenski and Carter Smithmen had hits in the game. Welch scored the Hawks run.
Andrew Welch worked five innings on the mound, striking out six and allowing one run on three hits and one walk. Carter West struck out one in one inning of relief.
Terrell allowed three hits in five innings, striking out 10.
