NYSPHSAA WRESTLING: HORSEHEADS, ELMIRA WRESTLERS END SEASONS AT STATES (22 PHOTOS)(February 27, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report ALBANY — A number of local wrestlers had their seasons end at states on Friday, with two of them dropping one-point matches.
Gavin Hornsby was edged 3-2 in the consolation rounds after falling 15-6 in his opening match. Elmira’s Scott Fairbanks was edged 9-8 in ultimate tie-breaker after falling 18-11 in his first match.
Horseheads’ Josh Knapp injury defaulted out of his opening match at 110 and then defaulted out of the tournament.
Horseheads’ Tanner Knapp went 0-2 on the day at 118. He dropped his first match 12-1 then fell 14-2.
Elmira’s Hunter Parker was 0-2 at 126. He fell 18-1 and 19-2.
