STSR PRESENTS THE DRAKE HVAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK: CORNING'S PROUDFOOT AND ELMIRA'S WASICKI (February 12, 2026)

Southern Tier Sports Report
There were a lot of great performances this week, leading to some tough choices for the first athlete of the week honors of the season. In the end, it was Corning’s Nolyn Proudfoot and Elmira’s Mady Wasicki who were named the Southern Tier Sports Report, sponsored by Drake HVAC Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Athletes of the Week.

NOLYN PROUDFOOT
Corning, boys’ basketball
The sophomore broke the school record with a 50-point game in a win over Canisteo-Greenwood and he has averaged over 42 points a game over his past four games. 

Proudfoot has had three 40 point games in his past four games. He’s also averaged double digits in rebounds during that stretch from his guard position.

Proudfoot has led Corning to an unbeaten season, the first for the Corning Hawks program, and first in Corning since Corning West did it 24 years ago. 

MADY WASICKI
Elmira, Bowling
Shot a career-best 761 series, the best by any girl in the area this year, in a win over Vestal.

Wasicki had games of 279, 246 and 236.
