IAC BOYS' BASKETBALL: SCHWEIZER'S WINNER LIFTS ND PAST NEWARK VALLEY (February 12, 2026)

SOUTHPORT — Finn Schweizer hit the game-winner from the free throw line as Notre Dame beat Newark Valley 50-48 on Thursday night.

“It was certainly not our best performance tonight, but I am proud of the kids for hitting it out and staying in it especially on senior night,” Notre Dame coach Nick Weirmiller said. 

It was a 6-6 game after one quarter, before Newark Valley went up 25-20 at the half. Newark Valley led 39-36 after three quarters, before the Crusaders outscored the Cardinals 14-9 in the fourth.

Rocco Sayers had 17 points, with a pair of threes. He had seven points in the second and five in the fourth.

Max O’Connor finished with 15 points, with three threes.

Schweizer and Laondon English each had eight points and Skoon Jenkins finished with two points.
