SECTION 4 BOYS' SWIMMING: LOCALS FIND SUCCESS IN SECTIONAL PRELIMS (24 PHOTOS) (February 11, 2026)

ELMIRA — Local swimmers found success during the Section IV, Class A prelims on Wednesday night.

In the 200 medley relay Corning was fourth in the prelims in 1:47.45 with a team of Kaeden Martinez, Shawn De Pedro, John McKane and Owen VanGorden, followed by Horseheads in 1:48.83 with a team of MJ Carro, Isaac Klesh, Thang Tran and Owen Quick and Elmira in 1:58.08 with Cameron Eden, Dayne Bush, James Lovell and Ethan Coleman. 

In the 200 free Keith Huff was third in the prelims in 1:52.18 with Joe Wood of Horseheads fifth in 1:57.40 followed by Kyle Williams of Corning in 1:59.84. Emmett Fifield is the alternate for the finals, taking ninth in 2:07.13. 

Joey Crisco won the 200 IM prelim in 2:00.08 with Horseheads’ Carro fourth in 2:14.97 followed by Martinez (2:15.93) and Derek Guo of Corning (2:16.14). Lovell is an alternate, taking ninth int he prelims in 2:23.67.

JP Sierzant won the 50 free prelim in 22.32 with VanGorden seventh in 24.64. Horseheads’ Keegan Duart (25.08) and Nick Matteson of Corning (25.24) are the alternates. 

Tran won the 100 fly prelim in 54.04 followed by Corning’s John McKane (54.28). De Pedro was fourth in 57.83. 

Sierzant won the 100 free prelim in 48.88 with teammate VAnGorden sixth in 56.22 and Duart eighth in 57.08. 

Huff was second in the 500 free in 5:07.81 followed by Wood (5:14). Fifield was the second alternate, taking 10th in 5:54.71. 

Corning was second in the 200 free relay in 1:41.80 with a team of Huff, VanGorden, Guo and Martinez and Horseheads’ Duart, Quick, Wood and Nate Cady took third in 1:42.34. Elmira’s Otto Elmerson, Jace Barr, Henry Mletzko and Demario Molina took sixth in 1:54.06.

Tran was second in the 100 back in 56.08 folloewd by McKane (57.12) and Carro (58.72). Williams was sixth in 59.43 and Martinez was eighth in 1:01.93. 

Crisco won the 100 breaststroke in 59.68 with De Pedro third in 1:03.06 followed by Guo (1:08.43). Klesh was seventh in 1:12.28. Bush of Elmira was the second alternate, taking 10th in 1:15.86. 

Williams, Huff, Crisco and McKane took second in the 400 free relay in 3:33.94 and Fifield, Wood, Carro and Tran took fourth in 3:40.51 and Coleman, Eden, Bush and Lovell took sixth in 3:58.84.
