STAC GIRLS' BASKETBALL: BONNELL NETS CAREER-HIGH 31, JANKOWSKI CAREER-BEST 12 AS HORSEHEADS TOPS CORNING (24 PHOTOS)(February 6, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report CORNING — Sammie Bonnell had a career-high 31 points to held lead Horseheads past Corning 70-33 on Friday night.
“The girls came out firing on all cylinders and played with intensity in what was an excellent first half,” Horseheads coach Andy Scott said. “Sammie scored all her points in the first three quarters.
“Our guard pressure was a difference maker today and the post players put themselves in great defensive spots. Really happy with the effort on both ends.”
Ellie Jankowski came off the bench and scored a career-high 12 points for Horseheads, who is 15-2 on the year, 11-0 in the STAC.
Bonnell had 16 points in the first quarter, with four threes.
Giana Hughey had eight points and Maggie Tremaine finished with seven points.
Grace Cronin had four points for Horseheads ad Sadie Gustin and Peyton Butts finished with three points each.
Mya Piecuch finished with two points in the game.
Evelyn Starns had 12 points and Char Starns had nine for Corning. Deanna Shaddock had eight points and Kennedy Driscoll and Aubrey Rose each finished with two points.
