STAC GIRLS' BASKETBALL: HORSEHEADS TOPS JC IN BATTLE OF STATE-RANKED TEAMS (January 30, 2026)

HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads girls’ basketball team celebrated senior night with a 60-44 win over state-ranked Johnson City on Friday.

Horseheads is ranked sixth in AA, while Johnson City is sixth in A. 

“Senior night,” Horseheads coach Andy Scott said. “Great job to five outstanding seniors. Lauren Kozemko, Alexa Lese, Peyton Butts, Grace Cronin and Sadie Gustin all were honored.”

Sam Bonnell and Giana Hughey each finished with 12 points in the game. 

Gustin had nine points in the game and Kozemko and Lese each finished with six points.

Maggie Tremaine had five points for Horseheads and Ellie Jankowski and Cronin each finished with four points, while Mya Piecuch had two points.
