IAC BOYS' BASKETBALL: EDISON RALLIES FOR WIN OVER NEWARK VALLEY (24 PHOTOS) (January 23, 2026)

Southern Tier Sports Report
ELMIRA HEIGHTS — Down 16-5 early, the Edison boys’ basketball team rallied for a 58-49 win over Newark Valley on Friday night.

“So proud of my guys,” Edison coach Chris Mallette said. “I told them before the game that we had to get back to playing for each other. We were down 16-5 after the first quarter because we didn’t take care of the ball. Then we just kept coming and kept coming. Total team effort, haven’t been in a lot of games like that and to finish it off feels really good.”

Marcquis Bradley Jr. had 19 points, with four threes in the game. Connor Lasko finished with 18 points. Bradley Jr. had three threes in the second quarter and Lasko had seven fourth-quarter points.

Mark Cornacchio had 12 points, with a pair of threes, and Doyle had five points, while Bentley Stroman finished with four points.

Down 16-5 after one quarter Edison got within 26-22 at the half. They took a 42-38 lead after three quarters on their way to the win.

Before the game Edison inducted their 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame Class. The players going into the HOF were Kelsi Root, Jaime Snyder, Mary Ann (Spotts) Callahan, Susan Zahorian and Steven Pickering along with the 2025 and 2006 girls’ cross country teams.
