THE WEEK AHEAD: SLOW START TO REGENTS WEEK, WITH THINGS HEATING UP FRIDAY AND SATURDAY (January 19, 2026)

Southern Tier Sports Report
With the holiday on Monday and the regents going on this week it’s a lighter week of local sports.

Overall there are 20 events this week, including seven events on both Friday and Saturday as things heat up later in the week. 

Here’s a day-by-day look at this week’s schedule, including how many events each day. 

TUESDAY (1)
* The Horseheads boys’ basketball team is at Vestal.

WEDNESDAY (3)
* The Edison bowling team hosts Watkins Glen.
* The Horseheads and Elmira wrestling teams are at the Section IV Duals at Maine-Endwell.

THURSDAY (2)
* The Corning siwmming & diving team hosts Johnson City.
* The Notre Dame girls’ basketball team is at Watkins Glen. 

FRIDAY (7)
* The Elmira swimming & diving team is at Binghamton and Corning is at Maine-Endwell.
* The Edison boys’ basketball team hosts Newark Valley, Notre Dame hosts Watkins Glen and Corning is at Wellsville.
* The Edison girls’ basketball team is at Newark Valley and Corning hosts Susquehanna Valley.

SATURDAY (7)
* The Edison wrestling team is at the IAC Championships.
* The Horseheads and Corning swimming and diving teams are at Maine-Endwell.
* Horseheads, Corning and Elmira’s wrestling teams are at the STAC Championships in Binghamton. 
* The Elmira girls’ basketball team plays Averill Park at Shenendehowa and Horseheads plays Shenendehowa. 
* The Horseheads track and field team is at Nazareth.
* The Horseheads, Corning and Elmira girls' wrestling teams are at Canandaigua.
