SECTION 4 WRESTLING: AREA SCHOOLS FIND SUCCESS ON DAY ONE OF SOUTHERN TIER MEMORIAL (24 PHOTOS)(January 9, 2026) Southern Tier Sports Report ELMIRA — All four local schools have wrestlers into the semifinals between the boys and girls competitions at the Southern Tier Memorial at Lecom Arena.
For the girls Elmira’s Alexa Hartford is in the 100 pound semifinals and Lauren Mahon of Corning is in the semifinals at 120.
Hartford wrestlers Sidney Shaffer of Lackawanna Trail and Mahon takes on Windsor’s Kimberly Olaeta.
Horseheads’ Ellisa Bly is in the 235 semifinal against Ava Bragg of Lockport.
On the boys side Josh Knapp of Horseheads will take on Mason Vadnerhoff of Edison in the 110 pound semifinal.
Gavin Hornsby of Horseheads, coming off a big pin of Ryder DePadua-Reese during the dual meet with Elmira on Wednesday, came back two days later and qualified for the semifinals at 132 and will meet Letchworth’s Justin Mann.
Lavonte Gibbons of Elmira is in the 144 semifinals and will take on Justin Deneen of Chambersburg.
