CORNING — The Corning girls led 15-9 after one quarter, but a 31-point second half by Vestal was the difference as the Hawks fell to the Golden Bears 49-44. 

It was 15-9 after one quarter and 24-18 at the half, before Vestal outscored Corning 14-9 in the third and 17-11 in the fourth.

Char Starns had 20 points for Corning, going 6-for-6 from the line.

Kennedy Driscoll had six points and Katie Grover and Deanna Shaddock finished with five points each.

Evelyn Starns had four points and Aubrey Rose and Grace Kio both had two points.

Tedessa DiRenzo led Vestal with 22 points.
