HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' WRESTLING: HORSEHEADS, EDISON WRESTLE AT O-M/WG DUALS (January 3, 2026)

WATKINS GLEN — The Horseheads and Edison wrestling teams took part in the Odessa-Montour/Watkins Glen Duals on Saturday.

Edison was 2-3 on the day. The Spartans fell to Horseheads 54-20, and Whitney Point 52-23. They beat Dundee 42-24 and South Seneca 42-18 and fell to Marathon 42-41.

Mason Vanderhoff was 5-0, with three pins, comepting at 118/126 and was named the most outstanding for the 126 weight class. Vanderhoff had a 12-11 win over former Horseheads teammate Josh Knapp in a matchup of state qualifiers from a year ago. 

Greg Golden was 5-0 on the day with four fals and a technical fall competing at 175/190.

Rocco Fanghi (138) was 4-1 on the day, with two pins, and Jace Schiller (165) was 4-1 on the day with two falls. Aidan Quackenbush (175/190) was 4-1 on the day with two falls. 

Andrew Smith was 2-2 on the day with a fall at 118/126 and Cameron Smith (132) was 2-3 with two pins.

Daniel Cruz (150) was 2-3 with a fall and Colton Erickson (157) was 2-3 on the day with a fall, while Logan Simons (190/215) was 0-3.

“Very pleased with the effort from our group that competed today,” Edison coach Kevin Weber said. “Giving up multiple forfeits throughout the line-up can make it difficult to stay focused/motivated in a dual-meet setting, but we had numerous individual successes today highlight by Vanderhoff getting a win over a returning sectional champion.

“We’re excited to get right back to work, continue to find ways to improve, and attempt to keep the overall positive momentum we appear to be finding as the postseason quickly approaches.”

Horseheads went 2-3 on the day, beating Edison 54-20, falling to O-M/WG 46-34, falling to Whitney Point 50-29, beating Dundee 60-24 and falling to Ithaca 42-29.

Against Dundee the Blue Raiders got forfeit wins from Trace Woodward (103), Josh Knapp (110), Noah iller (118), Gavin Hornsby (138), Tyler Barr (144), Trent Woodward (150), Zachary McCormick (157) and Ryan Huang (165).

Nate Miller (126) and James Tousley (175) had wins by fall for Horseheads.

In the match against Ithaca the Blue Raiders got pins by Wyatt Campbell (165) and Allen Reynoso (215). Josh Knapp (110) had a technical fall win and Damian Saks (138) and Gavin Hornsby (144) had forfeit wins. Ryan Huang had a pin in an exhibition match. 

Against O-M/WG the Blue Raiders got pins from Trace Woodward (103), Knapp (110), Nate Miller (126) and Hornsby (138) and Huang (165) and Joseph Saks (190) had technical fall wins. 

Against Edison the Blue Raiders got pins from Kenny Kailbourne (126), Damian Saks (132), Hornsby (138), Trent Woodward (150), Wyatt Campbell (157) and Caden Skinner (215). Trace Woodward (103), Tyler Barr (144) and Reynoso (285) had forfeit wins. 

In the match against Whitney Point the Blue Raiders got pins from Knapp (110), Nate Miller (126) and Hornsby (138). Noah Miller had a technical fall win and Tousley had a forfeit win.
