SECTION 4 BOYS' SWIMMING: CORNING WINS CLASS A AT ELMIRA INVITE, QUALIFIES FOR STATES IN 2 EVENTS (24 PHOTOS) (December 13, 2025)

ELMIRA — The Corning boys won the Class A division at the Elmira Invitational on Saturday.

Corning had a team score of 259, followed by Horseheads at 159. Elmira was fifth at 37 points.

The Hawks made states in the 200 medley relay, hitting the state standard as they took second in 1:40.38. Maine-Endwell won at 1:39.63. 

Corning had a team of Joey Crisco, JP Sierzant, Shawn De Pedro and John McKane.

Horseheads was third in 1:51.05 with a team of MJ Carro, Thang Tran, William Parker and Kegan Monahan. Elmira was seventh in 1:59.71 with a team of Cameron Eden, Dayne Bush, James Lovell and Ethan Coleman. 

Keith Huff was runner-up in the 200 free in 1:53.71. Teammate Kyle Williams was eighth in 2:07.39.

Crisco won the 200 IM in 2:01.30 and MJ Carro of Horseheads was fourth in 2:12.83. Corning’s Derek Gun was seventh in 2:17.55 followed by Horseheads’ Joe Wood (2:18.43). Kaeden Martinez of Corning was 10th in 2:19.10.

Sierzant was second in the 50 free in 22.41 and Monahan was sixth in 24.10 with Corning’s Owen VanGorden 10th in 25.32. 

Tran was second in the 100 fly in 56.49 with De Pedro fourth in 57.78. McKane was sixth at 1:00.79 and Nick Matteson was eighth in 1:03.60 with Parker 10th in 1:07.13.

Sierzant was second in the 100 free in 49.14 and teammate VanGorden was eighth in 58.09 with Keegan Duart of Horseheads 10th in 59.12. 

Huff was second in the 500 free in 5:21.28 followed by Wood in 5:37..58. Monahan was sixth in 5:56.58. 

Guo, VanGorden, Matteson and Huff were third in the 200 free relay in 1:39.71. Parker, Duart, Owen Quick and Wood were sixth for Horseheads in 1:43.50 and Elmira’s Coleman, Tyler Duncan, Demario Molina and Henry Mletzko took 10th in 1:56.28. 

Tran took second in the 100 back in 58.24 followed by teammate MJ Carro in 58.56 and McKane (1:01.68), Martinez (1:02.81) and Williams (1:03.04). 

Crisco won the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.19, making a state cut to qualify for states for the first time in an individual event. De Pedro was third in 1:03.76 and Guo was 10th in 1:09.97.

Corning won the 400 free relay in 3:25.37 with a team of Huff, Sierzant, De Pedro and Crisco. Monahan, Carro, Wood and Tran took third in 3:37.92 and Lovell, Eden, Bush and Mletzko took seventh in 4:07.84 for Elmira.
