SECTION 4 BOYS' BASKETBALL: FRESHMAN SUTRYK'S FINAL SECONDS THREE LIFTS ND PAST MARATHON (December 5, 2025)
Southern Tier Sports ReportMARATHON — Freshman Mike Sutryk hit a game-winning three in the final seconds as Notre Dame opened the year with a 53-52 win over Marathon on Friday.
Max O’Connor led Notre Dame with 17, including seven in the opening quarter and seven in the third. He had a pair of threes.
Rocco Sayers had 16 points, with six in the second and five points in both the first and fourth quarters. He had four threes in the game.
Finn Schweizer had nine points, six in the opening quarter.
With two starters fouled out, freshman Sutryk stepped up in the fourth with six points on a pair of threes.
Soon Jenkins had three points and Landen English had two points.
Notre Dame led 18-14 after one quarter and 29-28 at the half.
Marathon scored 16 in the third to go up 44-40 after three quarters, but Notre Dame held Marathon to eight points in the fourth.
