NYSPHSAA VOLLEYBALL: HORSEHEADS LEADS EARLY, BUT FALLS IN REGIONAL FINAL (24 PHOTOS) (November 15, 2025)

OWEGO — The first two sets everything went Horseheads way in the NYSPHSAA Class AA Regional Final.

Then, in the next three sets it was Warwick who won many of the big points, on their way to a five-set victory over the Blue Raiders.

Horseheads won the first two sets 27-25, 25-12, before Warwick won 25-20, 26-24, 15-7.

In the first set it was back and forth with the set tied at 11. Before Warwick went up 13-11.

Horseheads fought back and tied things at 13, but Warwick won the next six points to go up 19-13.

That’s when the Blue Raiders went on a big run, winning the next nine points, with McCormick getting a pair of kills to close out the run and put Horseheads up 22-19.

Things went back and forth and the match was tied at 23 and again at 24 and then at 25, before Horseheads closed out the opening set.

In the next set The Blue Raiders led 12-7 as they got off to a fast start. Warwick got within 12-9, but that’s as close as the set would get.

The third set saw Warwick go up big at 13-13, but Horseheads won the next five points, with Johnson getting a kill and then McCarthy netting an ace to tie things at 18.

However, Warwick won the next four points to start to pull away to take the set.

Warwick went up big in the fourth set, leading 17-13 and 20-14, but down 20-14 and then 21-15, the Blue Raiders won seven straight to get within 22-21.

However, Warwick got a point to go up 23-21, before Horseheads got a kill and then tied the set at 23. The set was then tied at 24, but Warwick went up 25-24 and got a block to close out the set.

In the deciding set it was 3-3, before Warwick took control of the set to close out the match. 

Alexxa Johnson had 15 kills, eight digs and two aces for Horseheads and Kailey McCormick had 11 kills, nine digs and an ace.

Kaelyn McCarthy finished with 37 assists, seven digs, an ace and a kill and Jemma Randall had eight kills, two blocks, three digs and an ace.

Madden Foster had 21 digs, Kobly Chaffee had four kills and a block and Kaitlyn Procopio finished with six digs and two kills.
