SECTION 4 FOOTBALL: HORSEHEADS TOPS VESTAL TO ADVANCE TO SECTIONAL FINAL (2025-11-07)

VESTAL — The Horseheads Blue Raiders avenged a loss from earlier this season as they topped Vestal 21-7 on Friday in the Section IV, Class A semifinals.

The Blue Raiders are headed to the final, at Union-Endicott, after jumping out to a 14-0 lead at the half in the win.

Patrick Laney scored on a three-yard run in the second quarter and Liam Morrissey had a 15-yard scoring run to make it 14-0.

Josh Kweller hit Gavin Brady on a 51-yard touchdown pass with 3:52 left in the third quarter to make it a 14-7 game.

Horseheads put the game away with 2:16 left as Dmitri Charlanow scored on a 35-yard run.

Bryce Thomas led Horseheads with 150 yards on 23 carries and Morrissey ran for 45 on five carries, while Laney had eight carries for 63 yards and Charlanow had two carries for 42 yards. 

Keagan Zeller had two catches for 15 yards, Laney had two for 13 yards and Elijah Miller had a catch.

Charlanow completed five passes for 29 yards. 

Keegan Harkness had eight tackles for Horseheads and Tanner Kennedy had a sack and two tackles.

Miller had six tackles and Boe Briggs had five.
