SECTION 4 FOOTBALL: CORNING STARTS FAST, TOPS ITHACA TO MAKE SECTIONAL FINAL (2025-11-07)
Southern Tier Sports ReportCORNING — The Corning Hawks are headed back to the sectional final after a 52-19 win over Ithaca on Friday in the Section IV, Class AA semifinals.
Corning scored 22 first-quarter points and led 22-0 after one quarter and 38-6 at the half on their way to the win.
Tahj Haynes and Johnny Graham each had three touchdowns for the Hawks in the game.
Graham had a 33-yard run for a score at 9:02 of the opening quarter and then he had the two-point run.
Haynes scored the next three Corning touchdowns. He scored at 7:52 and 2:42 of the first quarter and 8:29 of the second quarter on five, two and eight-yard runs respectively.
Graham had the two-point run on the final two scores.
Edward Peck had a 31-yard run for Ithaca at 3:27 of the second quarter to get the Little Red on the board.
Graham had touchdown at 46 seconds left in the half and Mike Lutton had the two-point run.
Graham had a 40-yard kick return for a score to open the second half.
Jack Barton hit O’Mari Dale on a 19-yard touchdown for Ithaca at 7:44 of the fourth quarter and Jacob Deneka of Corning scored on a seven-yard run at 6:44.
Peck had an 18-yard run with 48 seconds left in the game.
Haynes had 85 yards on the ground on seven carries and Graham ran for 61 yards, while Lutton ran for 41.
Barton ran for 191 yards for Ithaca and threw for 106. Peck ran for 79 yards.
Leo Fiorello had 39 yards receiving, Cyahr Brooks had 29, O’Mari Dale had 19 and Azozy Infinite had 13 yards.
Greyson ReSue had eight tackles and one for a loss and Cam Anderson had eight tackles, two sacks, three tackles for a loss and a forded fumble, along with a fumble recovery.
Haynes had five tackles and Bradyn Zimmerman, Parker Jacobus and Casey Barrett had four tackles each, Zimmerman had a tackle for a loss.
