EIGHT-MAN FOOTBALL: EDISON WINS ON HOMECOMING TO STAY UNBEATEN (24 PHOTOS) (2025-10-11)
By Brian FeesSouthern Tier Sports ReportELMIRA HEIGHTS — The Edison football team scored 40 first-half points as they topped Dryden 48-6 on Saturday to win on Homecoming.
The Spartans, ranked third in the state in eight-man football, remains unbeaten on the year.
“It’s huge, we are still undefeated,” Edison quarterback Jace Schiller said. “Rolling, and to be able to do it at homecoming is awesome”
A packed house for homecoming just made the whole experience more fun.
“It’s awesome, just being able to do it in front of the them, everyone can see it now,”
The win made homecoming a lot more fun.
“It’s fun being able to go to the dance and we are winning,” Schiller said. “Especially this year, we are undefeated.”
Marcquis Bradley Jr. scored on a 28-yard run to start the scoring at 8:57 and Schiller hit Bradley Jr. on the two-point try.
With 47 seconds left in the opening quarter Schiller scored on a five-yard run and Schiller had the two-point run.
Carmelo Miles got Dryden on the board with a 29-yard run seven seconds into the second quarter.
Schiller ran in from 44 yards out and Greg Golden had the two-point run to make It 24-6 Edison.
Niko Cheplick ran a punt back 79 yards at 8:28 and Schiller ran in the two-point try. Paxton Hoover hauled in a 21-yard pass from Schiller and Schiller had the repoint run.
Mark Cornacchio had a 28-yard run as the fourth quarter started and he also had the two-point try as
Schiller was 5-for-7 passing for 72 yards and a score.
Bradley Jr. ran for 82 yards and a score on two carries and Schiller ran for 61 yards with two scares.
Coarnacchio had 56 yards and a score on seven carries and Golden ran for 27 yards, while Ze’Quan Mosley ran for 26.
Hoover had two catches for 31 yards and a score and Golden had a 23-yard catch, while Cheplick and Bradley Jr. each had tackles.
Golden had five tackles, three tackles for a loss and a sack and Bradley Jr. had three tackles, a sack and a tackle for a loss.
Hoover had three tackles and a tackle for a loss.
The number three state ranking is the best in program history.
“It just shows how hard we worked,” Schiller said. “We started unranked, we were fifth and we now are third. It just shows how hard we work.”
