ENDICOTT — The Horseheads football team dropped their first game of the year, falling at Union-Endicott on Friday night, 21-19.

Horseheads led 7-6 after one quarter, and again at the half.

The Tigers took a 14-13 lead into the fourth and outscored Horseheads 7-6 in the final quarter of the game.

“Kids played tails off, just didn’t make enough plays,” Horseheads coach Kevin Hillman said. “I also will take heat for loss, for the fake extra point that didn’t work.

“Kids still responded with a chance to tie late. So proud of them. Got all the confidence they’ll regroup and be ready to roll next week.”

Bryce Thomas had all three of the Horseheads touchdowns in the game. He ran for 118 yards on the game.

Dmitri Charlanow ran for 33 yards and Patrick Laney ran for 19 yards.

Charlanow completed two passes in the game, to Laney and Keagan Zeller.

Lia Morrissey had 11 tackles and a sack. Joe Briggs had eight tackles and Aiden Culshaw and Connor Warrick each had six tackles. Elijah Miller had five tackles. Culshaw also recovered a fumble. Wyatt MacNeal had a sack for Horseheads.

Joseph Gennarelli Jr. threw for 61 yards on 3-for-6 passing for U-E.

Alex Palombaro had 82 yards on six carries, including a 58-yard touchdown run and Chad Eldridge ran for 52 yards on eight carries, with a touchdown. Gennarelli had 24 rushing yards, with a touchdown and Robert Mary ran for 42 yards and a score.

Palombaro had a 22-yards catch and Larkin Bianco had two grabs for 39 yards.

Each team scored three touchdowns and each hit one extra point, the difference was a third-quarter two-point conversion by the Tigers.
