STAC BOYS' SOCCER: ELMIRA BLANKS ITHACA IN MATCHUP OF STATE-RANKED TEAMS (2025-10-04)

ITHACA — In a matchup of state-ranked teams, the Elmira express got their seventh shutout of the season, topping Ithaca 1-0 on Saturday.

Elmira is ranked seventh in the state in AAA and Ithaca is 13th ranked.

The only goal in the game came from Dom Capilli.

It was the seventh clean sheet of the season for Elmira. They need one more win to wrap up a STAC West Divisional title.

“Just an incredible effort from the boys,” Elmira coach Derek Hamilton said,. “Team effort from the start. WE have a crew that really enjoy playing with and for each other.

“Defensively we were incredible today. We left no one stranded and consistently found ourselves in fantastic defensive shape with a second and sometimes third defender. Riley O’Herron, Chase Christian, Dom Romeo and Brody Hamilton have been solid all year long. Sean Hanrahan and Luca Capilli provide the perfect bookends for us.”
