STAC BOYS' SOCCER: CORNING SHUTS OUT HORSEHEADS, 3-0 (2025-10-03)

Southern Tier Sports Report
HORSEHEADS — The Corning boys’ soccer team picked up a 3-0 win over Horseheads on Thursday night in STAC boys’ soccer action.

Landyn Proudfoot had two goals and Brandon Ogunwumi had a goal in the game.

Cooper Sargent, Grayson Timmons and Charlier Warner all had assists for the Hawks.

Corning had 13 shots and five corner kicks and Horseheads had a shot and no corner kicks.

Isaac Anderson and Logan Durand were in goal for Corning. Teagan Sullivan had 10 saves for the Blue Raiders.

“Proud of the defensive effort,” Corning coach Chad Freelove said. “We have battled the injury bug in the net this fall and thankfully we have three goalkeepers. It is tough to be one of the guys in a singular position, but this fall we have needed all three and they have answered the call. We played very good pressure, cover, balance defense to squander a lot of opportunities early.”

Horseheads coach Mark Mucci was impressed with the way Corning moved the ball in the gae.

“Corning looked good tonight and moved the ball quick and well,” Mucci said. “Another tough loss tonight for my boys, but I am proud of them for continuing to show up, battle, and put forth a competitive effort.”
