Troy senior Brendan Gilliland had a big game to help the Trojans to a key early-season win, while Towanda freshman Maris Cobb had a great showing on the biggest stage she's run on to this point. They are The Sports Reports / Ziff Law Firm Regional "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Sept. 13.

TROY'S GILLILAND NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL BOYS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Gilliland scored three TDs in the second half, including two in the fourth quarter, to lead Troy in a come-from-behind, 51-35, win over previously-unbeaten Athens.

Gilliland rushed for 256 yards and three scores on 21 carries, and also had two catches for 32 yards.

Gilliland ran for a 22-yard TD in the third quarter, and for TDs of 62 and 71 yards in the fourth quarter.

Elmira's Sean Hanrahan (soccer), NP-Liberty's Deacon Valentine (soccer), Owego's Dylan Brace (football), and Athens' Zach Fisher (football / soccer).

TOWANDA'S COBB NAMED ZIFF LAW FIRM REGIONAL GIKRLS "ATHLETE OF THE WEEK"
Cobb is making a big statement early in her varsity career.

Her biggest statement yet was an eighth-place overall finish at the rugged Harry Groves Spike Shoe Invitational at State College. 

Cobb was the highest-placing freshman in the field.

Wellsboro's Maddy Cruttenden (volleyball), Owego's Ava Murphy (swimming), Tioga's RaeAnne Feeko (volleyball), and Horseheads' Mackenzie Baker (cross country).
