SECTION 4 FOOTBALL: CORNING FALLS TO LIVERPOOL IN SEASON OPENER (24 PHOTOS) (2025-09-12) Southern Tier Sports Report CORNING — After leading 14-7, the Corning Hawks saw Liverpool score 28 of the next 34 points on their way to a 42-20 win on Friday night.
Mike Lutton started the scoring for the Hawks with a 14-yard touchdown run at 5:26 of the opening quarter.
After Liverpool got on the board, Lutton had another touchdown, this time from four yards out, he then ran in the two-point try to put the Hawks up 14-7.
John Sindoni threw a 59-yard touchdown to Dalton Loguidice as Liverpool tied the score.
After both teams made stops, Nico Leone returned a punt 50 yards to the house to put Liverpool on top 21-14 with 28 seconds left in the half.
Leone hauled in a 7-yard touchdown from Sindoni to put the Legends up 28-14, before Lutton got his third score, this time on a one-yard run with 1:27 left in the third to cut the deficit to 28-20.
Daxton Archer had a 25-yard touchdown catch from Sindoni and then with 9:19 left in the game Brayden Phillips had a 62-yard touchdown run to cap the scoring.
Lutton had 60 yards and three scores on 16 carries and Johnny Graham ran 12 times for 45 yards, while Clayton Smith had 43 yards on 11 carries.
Cooper Bange was 7-for-11 passing for 73 yards for the Hawks and Smith had a diving 27-yard catch for the Hawks.
Dylan Brewster had two grabs for 21 yards and Graham had three catches for 18 yards and Paul Santora had a catch for seven yards.
Sindoni was 14-for-17 for 215 yards and four scores passing for Liverpool. ————
