PAIR OF CORNING GRADS RUN AT USATF OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (2025-07-31)

EUGENE, OREGON — A pair of Corning graduates competed in the 1500 meters at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, while another Section IV grad posted the fastest time in the prelims.

Corning, and Virginia Tech, graduate Lindsey Butler was fifth in heat one. She missed the finals by two spots, finishing in 4:07.59.

The last time into the finals was 4:07.13. Butler was faster than two of the qualifiers, but it was top three in each heat, plus next three fastest times into the final.

Another Corning graduate Jessica (Lawson) McGorty finished seventh in heat two in 4:16.37 running for PUMA.

Union-Endicott, and Binghamton University, graduate Emily Mackay, an Olympian at the last summer games, won her heat, and had the fastest time in the prelims in 4:04.23. She was more than a second faster than anyone else in the field.
