HORSEHEADS — The Horseheads 12u all-stars picked up a 12-0 win over Corning-Painted Post Little League in pool play on Tuesday.
Before the game the Horseheads varsity baseball team, that won a state title this year for the first time since 1999, took the field for introductions with the little league players. The Horseheads mayor also recognized the day as Horseheads baseball day in recognition of their state title.
Haden McKinney went 4 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out two and Nate Blauvelt got the last out by strikeout to complete the one-hitter.
Horseheads scored four in the first and five in the fifth in the win.
Kaiden Rijo had two hits, two RBI and three runs scored and McKinney had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Jesse Schuyler had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
In the other majors game of the day Big Flats earned a 9-0 win over Elmira/LPC.
