FIVE-RUN EIGHTH INNING THE DIFFERENCE AS ND IS EDGED IN REGIONAL FINAL IN EXTRA INNINGS (2025-06-07)
Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — The Notre Dame baseball team led 3-1 after one inning, but Oriskany fought back to tie things in the sixth and then they scored five in the eighth to win 8-3 in eight innings in the Class D regional final.
The Crusaders got out to the early lead as Jhamez Boyd and Anthony Barkley each singled and then Luke Richards reached on an error.
After a pair of outs were recorded Brenden O’Brien hit a two-run, two-out single to put the Crusaders on top and Casey Kraeger reached on a dropped third strike, allowing Richards to score.
Oriskany scored a run in the third and one in the sixth to tie things, and then they had the five in the eighth to win.
Richards worked 7 1/3 innings, striking out 11 and allowing five hits and five runs, four earned. Boyd got the last two outs.
Boyd, Barkley and Richards all had two hits and scored runs. Richards had a double. O’Brien had the hit and two RBI.
