VESTAL — A four-run fourth inning was the difference as Vestal rallied and evened the best of three series with Horseheads 1-1 after a 6-4 Golden Bears win on Sunday.

Horseheads led 3-0 after one inning. Vestal got two runs in the third and added four in the fourth in the win

Horseheads got a run back in the fifth, but that’s as close as things got

The third, and deciding, game of the series been Horseheads and Vestal is at 5 p.m. Monday at Waverly.

Keegan Monahan had a one-out home run in the top of the first inning to start the scoring. Cooper Ball had an RBI double in the first inning and Ball scored on an error off the bat of Lyncoln Bennett.

The other Horseheads run came in the fifth when Patrick Laney singled and Josh Stout doubled him home.

Monahan had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored and Ball and Stout each had the doubles. Laney had a hit and a run scored.

Brenden Clark struck out three in three innings, Chase Mashanic got two outs and Monahan threw 2 1/3 innings of one-hit, shutout ball.

Ben Tanton, an Old Dominion commit, struck out nine and allowed five hits and four runs, three earned, for Vestal on the mound for Vestal..
