SECTION 4 BASEBALL: HORSEHEADS BLANKS VESTAL IN GAME ONE OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (18 PHOTOS) (2025-05-30) Southern Tier Sports Report HORSEHEADS — After being postponed two different times Horseheads and Vestal finally played game one of their best of three championship series on Friday, with the Blue Raiders scoring in four of the first five innings on their way to a 9-0 win.
Horseheads had runs in the first and second, three in the third and four in the fifth. The game was called after six innings due to the rain and an unplayable field.
Mason Holloway struck out 11 on the mound, throwing a six-hit shutout. He didn’t walk a batter and now has still not walked a batter all season, while his strikeout total now nears 90.
Holloway also had two hits, with a double, four RBI and a run scored and Josh Stout hit a home run and scored three times.
Trevor Reidy had two hits, with an RBI and a run scored and Micah Hays had a double and an RBI.
Zac Giammichele had a hit and two RBI and Keegan Monahan had a hit and scored a run.
