SECTION 4 TRACK AND FIELD: CORNING BOYS AND GIRLS WIN CLASS A TITLES (24 PHOTOS) (2025-05-28)

ENDICOTT — The Corning boys and girls track and field teams cruised to titles at the Section IV, Class A Championships at Union-Endicott on Wednesday.

Running in the Class A/B Championships, Corning girls won Class A at 209 with Ithaca at 123. Horseheads was at 83, followed by U-E (58), Elmira (41) and Binghamton (23).

For the boys Corning was at 167, followed by Binghamton (105) and Ithaca (102.5). Horseheads was fourth at 93, followed by U-E (46.5) and Elmira (43).

In the 2000 steeplechase Corning’s Madeline Kirk was second in 8:51.59 followed by teammate Liesel Despain (8:57.39).

Cooper Bange of Corning was fourth in the 3000 steeplechase in 11:52.20 followed by teammate Dominik Davis (11:54.90).

In the 100 hurdles Cella McLaughlin of Corning won in 14.56 followed by Horseheads’ Erica Bancroft (17.03). Alisyn Conway of Corning was fourth in 17.83 followed by Sophie Shutter of Horseheads (18.24).

Corning’s girls were second in the 3200 relay in 11:30.86.

Ethan Wentzel of Corning won the 110 hurdles in 16.38 with teammate Adrian Blouin third at 17.45.

In the boys’ 3200 relay Elmira was second at 8:55.10 followed by Horseheads (8:59.31) and Corning (8:59.90).

Mylynn Flint of Horseheads won the 100 in 12.84 with Emma Mase of Corning third at 13.63 followed by Horseheads’ Gabrielle Owusu (13.79). Kaylee Scolaro of Corning was sixth at 13.99 followed by Elmira’s Alexsys Bristow (14.21) and Zoey Brooks (14.38).

Chase Luangsuwan of Horseheads was second in the 100 in 11.23 followed by Khiden Swanger of Elmira (11.31). Corning’s Nicholas Brucie was fifth in 11.63 with Jacob Deneka of Corning seventh at 11.97 followed by teammate Liam Gill (12.01) and Horseheads’ Liam Morrisey (12.05) and Baraka Schmidt (12.07).

In the girls’ 1500 Olivia Martinec of Corning was second in 5:11.64 followed by teammate Lauren Roche (5:14.21) and Cecilia Cowen of Horseheads (5:18.86), Madelyn Wise of Elmira (5:35.15), Horseheads’ Sophia Christmas (5:38.33) and Elmira’s Millie Kierst (6:05.41).

Aurora Jellif of Corning was third in the 400 in 1:03.13 followed by teammate Elianna Schneider (1:03.50), Horseheads’ Karina Lapierre (1:03,74) and Elmira’s Arrianna Jones (1:04.72). Corning’s Laiana Gardner was eighth in 1:05.27.

Wyatt McDonald of Corning was second in the 400 in 51.03 with Elmira’s Ta’hjay Molina-Bacome fourth in 52.57 followed by Corning’s Ryan Calkins (53.04). Tyler Sherry of Horseheads was eighth in 53.44 followed by teammate Carver Robbins (53.47) and Charles Warner of Corning (53.77).

Bryce Hammond won the 1600 for Corning in 4:25.10 followed by teammates Sebastian Boutwell (4:27.03) and Gregory Homa (4:28.12). Horseheads’ Luke Dordoni was seventh in 4:56.24 followed by teammate Jack Sydlansky (4:58.31) and Elmira’s Ayden Coleman (5:06.14) and Wally Ferriter (5:42.60).

Horseheads’ Alexus Borek won the 400 hurdles in 1:05.57 with Amanda McEwen of Corning third in 1:10.72 followed by teammate Conway (1:13.52) and Elmira’s Azavyanna Morgan (1:14.58).

Blouin was second in the boys’ 400 hurdles in 1:01.33 with Samuel Kirk of Corning fourth in 1:06.59. Benjamin Marshall of Elmira was sixth in 1:07.35. VanTroy Clemente of Elmira was eighth in 1:11.07.

Schneider was second in the 800 in 2:25.57 and teammate Leila Ianovici was fifth in 2:30.82. Martinec was eighth in 2:41.48 followed by Elmira’s Molly Doran (2:45.95) and Horseheads’ Alanna Stillman (2:55.95).

Jaxyn Mahoney of Corning won the 800 in 1:56.85 followed by Horseheads’ Kiran Gulati in 1:57.77. Corning’s Nicholas Ferratella was fourth in 2:03.23 and Horseheads’ Allen Wetmore was sixth in 2:03.50 with teammate Hunter Lewis ninth at 2:08.08.

Borek won the 200 in 26.64 followed by Corning’s Claire Devlin (27.19). Mase was fifth in 27.93 and Shutter was seventh in 28.59 with Jellif ninth in 29.98.

Luangsuwan was second in the 200 for the boys in 22.65 followed by Elmira’s DJ Coprew (22.82), McDonald (23.40), Brucie (23.46) and Elmira’s Braxton Houghtelling (23.63). Marco Cipolla of Horseheads was eighth in 24.25 followed by teammate Harrison Hirshman (24.26) and Gill (24.49).

Roche won the 3000 in 11:09.41 with teammate Kaitlyn Lee third in 11:45.10 followed by Wise in 11:53.52.

Nicholas Kowal of Horseheads won the 3200 in 9:54.20 and Corning’s Christopher Lawson was fourth in 10:02.35 followed by Hammond (10:13). Michael Naylor of Corning was seventh in 10:36.46 followed by Elmira’s James Lovell (10:45.23) and Aaron Skinkle (12:39.03).

Horseheads won the girls’ 400 relay in 50.49 followed by Elmira (53.53) and Corning (53.87). Elmira was second in the boys’ 400 relay in 43.45 followed by Horseheads (45.28) and Corning (46.33).

Corning was second in the girls’ 1600 relay in 4:14.68 with Elmira fourth in 4:36.57. Corning won the boys’ 1600 relay in 3:33.74 and Horseheads was third at 3:42.22 with Elmira fifth at 4:00.97.

Reese Conway of Corning won the pole vault at 9-feet, 9-inches with teammate Lauren Williams fourth at 7-feet, 6-inches.

Maxwell Jennings of Corning was second in the boys’ pole vault at 13-feet, followed by Wentzel (12-feet, 6-inches) and Deneka (10-feet).

Selena Rollins of Elmira won the high jump at 4-feet, 10-incheswith Madie Sweet of Corning fourth at 4-feet, 4-inches.

For the boys’ Ryan Goble of Elmira was fourth at 5-feet, 6-inches and Devin Godwin of Horseheads was sixth at 5-feet, 4-inches.

McEwen won the triple jump at 32-feet, 4 1/2-inches followed by Horseheads’ Andrea Benjamin (32-feet, 4-inches), Elmira’s Naudia Inness (31-feet, 7 1/2-inches), Alisyn Conway (31-feet) and Madison Bancroft of Horseheads (29-feet, 8-inches).

Connor Trimber of Horseheads was second in the boys’ triple jump at 39-feet, 10-inches with Elmira’s John-Charles Walton tied for fourth at 37-feet, 9 1/2-inches. Corning’s Joshua Fajardo was seventh at 36-feet, 7-inches, followed by Horseheads’ Jarryd Witzel (35-feet, 11-inches) and Jennings (35-feet, 10-inches).

McLaughlin won the long jump at 17-feet, 6-inches followed by teammate Devlin (16-feet, 10-inches) and Horseheads’ Elly Bachert (15-feet) and Elmira’s Isadora Cyr (14-feet, 10-inches). Madison Farrell of Corning was seventh at 12-feet, 8-inches followed by Madison Bancroft of Horseheads (12-feet, 7-inches) and Marcia Jones of Elmira was 10th at 10-feet, 3-inches.

Carver Robbins of Horseheads was second in the long jump at 19-feet, 6-inches with Deneka fifth at 18-feet, 6 1/2-inches followed by Godwin (18-feet, 4-inches). James Goodman of Corning was eighth at 16-feet, 11 3/4-inches.

Sophia Cimo of Corning was second in the shot put at 30-feet, 9 1/2-inches followed by teammate Samantha Harvey (29-feet, 9 1/2-inches) and Brianna Giblin of Horseheads (22-feet, 4 1/4-inches). Ellisa Bly of Horseheads was sixth at 21-feet, 10 1/2-inches followed by Elmira’s Nicole Longwell (21-feet, 7-inches) and Alana Brink (20-feet, 9-inches).

Jacob Blencowe of Corning won the shot put for the boys at 47-feet, 9 1/2-inches followed by Horseheads’ Calvin Cragle (46-feet, 11-inches) and Joey Biviano (46-feet, 1/2-inches) and Corning’s Logan Mullaney (45-feet, 2-inches) and Freddie Collins (44-feet, 9-inches). Jace-Thomas Barr of Ellmira was 10th at 29-feet, 11-inches.

Cimo won the discus for the girls at 107-feet followed by teammate Grace Kio (98-feet, 8-inches). Layla Byzitter of Corning was fifth at 80-feet, 4-inches followed by Bly (67-feet, 7-inches), Brink (65-feet, 10-inches) and Elmira’s Aniciya Chely (55-feet, 4-inches).

Blencowe won the discus at 152-feet, followed by Biviano (134-feet, 9-inches) and Corning’s Kai Huttleston (122-feet, 1-inche). Corning’s Collins was sixth at 116-feet, 5-inches with Barr ninth at 87-feet, 6-inches.
