THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON GETS INTO FULL SWING (2025-05-26)

Spring playoffs are in full swing as sectional finals will be held in baseball, softball and lacrosse this week.

The number of events this week can fluctuate, depending on what happens early in the week. Overall there are at least 16 events this week, but possibly more.

Here is a day-by-day look at what’s on tap this week, including how many vents each day.

TUESDAY (2)
* The Edison softball team hosts Windsor in the sectional quarters.
* The Elmira boys’ lacrosse team is at Ithaca for an A semifinal.

* The Horseheads baseball team hosts Vestal in game one of a best of three series and Corning hosts Elmira.
* The Horseheads, Elmira and Corning track and field teams are at Ithaca for class sectionals, while Notre Dame and Edison are at Marathon.

THURSDAY (3)
* The Corning, Elmira, Horseheads and Notre Dame girls’ golfers are at Soaring Eagles for sectionals.
* The Horseheads girls’ lacrosse team takes on Vestal in the Class B final and. Corning meets Ithaca in the A final.

FRIDAY (4)
* The Horseheads baseball team is at Vestal for Game 2 and Corning is at Elmira for game two.
* The Corning and Ithaca or Elmira boys’ lacrosse teams meet in the A final and Horseheads takes on Vestal in the B final.

SATURDAY (2-4)
* Elmira and Corning meet in the AAA softball final and Horseheads takes on Vestal in the AA final.
* The AAA and AA baseball finals go to game threes if necessary.
