SECTION 4 BASEBALL: FIRST INNING A KEY AS EDISON FALLS TO WAVERLY IN SECTIONALS (24 PHOTOS) (2025-05-23) Southern Tier Sports Report WAVERLY — The Edison baseball team fell behind 6-0 after one inning and that was all the Waverly Wolverines needed on Saturday in the Section IV, Class B playoffs.
Waverly scored six in the first and four in the fourth in the win.
Ault threw the five inning complete game for Waverly, striking out eight and allowing four hits.
Matthias Welles hit a three-run home run for Waverly in the opening inning and Griffin Walter, Sam Cheresnowky and Hogan Shaw all had hits in the game with Cheresnowsky getting a double. Shaw scored a run and Walter had two RBI and a run scored.
Dylan Beam had two hits, with a double, for Edison and Niko Cheplick and Paxton Hoover had hits in the game.
